8 Network Performance Analyzer Reference
WINS Server (NetBIOS Name Server)
The WINS Server test verifies that the server can convert a name to
an IP address.
Test setup
The first setup screen is used to type in the IP address of the WINS
server and the name that will be sent to the WINS server in the
request.
The last setup screen provides a list of measurements performed
during the test. Select a measurement from the list and press Edit
to view and modify the thresholds used to rate the performance
of the measurement.
The following measurements are taken during the test.
PING Response The time taken to perform an ICMP Echo test on
the server.
Server Response The request or response time for converting a
name into an address.
