Standard Types

Open/Short Standards These standards are used to measure reﬂection for:

• S11 1-Port calibrations

• S22 1-Port calibrations

• One-Path 2-Port calibrations

• Full 2-Port calibrations

When you perform any of these calibrations using a 1.0 mm calibration kit,

you will see the following menu:

Notes on the Standards {(F) OPEN} Refers to an open which has a male connector (that is, the

open is to be connected to a female port). This standard is

used for frequencies up to 50 GHz.

{(F) SHORT3} Refers to Short No. 3 with a male connector (that is, the

short is to be connected to a female port). This standard is

used for frequencies above 50 GHz.

{(M) OPEN} Refers to an open which has a female connector (that is,

the open is to be connected to a male port). This standard

is used for frequencies up to 50 GHz.

{(M) SHORT3} Refers to Short No. 3 with a female connector (that is, the

short is to be connected to a male port). This standard is

used for frequencies above 50 GHz.
