Signal Generator Overview
Front Panel Overview
This connector can also serve as burst envelope input providing linear control as follows:
0 V = 100% amplitude, –1.00 V = 0% amplitude.
If you configure your signal generator with Option 1EM, this input is relocated to a female
BNC connector on the rear panel.
10. EXT 2 INPUT
This BNC input connector accepts a ±1 V
p
signal for AM, FM, ΦM, and pulse modulation.
With AM, FM, or
ΦM, ±1V
p
produces the indicated deviation or depth. With pulse
modulation,
+1 V is on and 0 V is off.
When ac-coupled inputs are selected for AM, FM, or
ΦM and the peak input voltage differs
from 1 V
p
by more than 3%, the HI/LO annunciators light on the display. The damage levels
are 5 V
rms
and 10 V
p
.
If you configure your signal generator with Option 1EM, this input is relocated to a female
BNC connector on the rear panel.
11. Help Key
Press this hardkey to view a short description of any hardkey or softkey. There are two help
modes available on the signal generator; single and continuous. Single mode is the factory
preset condition.
Toggle between single and continuous mode by pressing
Utility > Instrument Info/Help Mode >
Help Mode Single Cont.
• When you press the
Help key in single mode, help text is provided for the next key you
press without activating the key’s function. Any key pressed afterward exits the help mode
and activates the key’s function.
• When you press the
Help key in continuous mode, help text is provided for each subsequent
key press until you press the
Help key again or change to single mode. In continuous mode,
pressing the
Help key also activates the key’s function (except for the Preset key).
12. Trigger Key
This hardkey initiates an immediate trigger event for a function such as a list or step sweep.
The trigger mode must be set to
Trigger Key prior to initiating a trigger event with this
hardkey.
